Who we are
Hugs, Bugs, and ABCs was created through years of experience, research, conversations and a passion to give our youngest learners the foundation needed to reach their full potential and become lifelong learners. Every aspect of the center and curriculum was thoughtfully curated. Even our name has a meaning behind it.
Hugs: children need to feel safe and they need guidance to navigate and communicate their feelings to be heard and understood.
Bugs: authentic discovery and play are essential to ignite pure curiosity and take ownership of their learning from the very beginning.
+ ABCs: explicit and systematic instruction in academic areas is key to building synapses that will create success in kindergarten and beyond.
About Jennifer
Hi, I’m Jennifer.
I am the Owner of Hugs, Bugs and ABCs, mom of seven and Early Education Teacher Extraordinaire.
I saw a need for more focused early childhood education so I set out to create my own program. Since I can remember, I’ve been interested in how our brains grow, develop and learn. This curiosity led me to a career in early childhood education. Since 2007, I’ve spent my days in the classroom. I’ve taught mostly kindergarten, but spent a few years in first grade and 4K. Being in the classroom fueled my desire for more knowledge about the way we learn.

I wasn’t content with just presenting information. Within the last few years, I made a commitment to understanding current research around education, specifically how our brains learn to read. I’ve taken courses such as LETRS training, Structured Literacy and the brain, and Dyslexia Intervention. I’ve also joined committees that allow me to better understand the process of choosing curriculums in public education. I recently served on the literacy/biliteracy curriculum renewal team for MCPASD. All of my discussions and experiences have led me here, to Hugs, Bugs and ABCs. I’ve made a commitment to serving my community by providing the best possible foundation to our youngest learners, making way to a brighter, more successful future for us all.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality childcare and education in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that builds a foundation for lifelong learning. In doing so, we strive to empower each child to reach their full potential and become compassionate, confident individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
Vision
Our vision is a community where all children feel loved, respected and encouraged to develop to their full potential. We will adopt a holistic approach that enables each child to develop their social, physical, emotional and intellectual abilities. We know that each child is unique and positive learning experiences are instrumental for a child’s overall development in later life.
